Setting Up Donation Matching (2x, 3x, 4x)

Donation matching is one of the most powerful tools for boosting a campaign — communicating to donors that their gift will be multiplied increases both conversion and average gift size. LevCharity lets you configure a matching add-on directly within any campaign.

How Matching Works on LevCharity

Matching on LevCharity is a display and messaging tool — it shows donors on the campaign page that their gift will be matched at 2x, 3x, or 4x. The matching funds themselves are typically pledged by a lead donor or corporate sponsor and processed separately (or logged as an offline donation).

Setting Up a Matching Campaign

1. Open your campaign in the editor.
2. Go to Add-ons and enable Matching Campaign.
3. Select your match multiplier: 2x, 3x, or 4x.
4. Set a Matching Fund Cap — the total amount available for matching (e.g., $50,000 available to be matched). Once this cap is reached, the matching display automatically changes to show it's been used.
5. Optionally set a Matching Time Window — matching is only active during a specific time range within the campaign.
6. Save your campaign settings.

What Donors See

On the campaign page, donors see a live display showing the current match status, how much of the matching fund remains, and a clear message like "Every dollar doubled — up to $50,000!"

In the donation checkout, the matching multiplier is shown so the donor sees their real-world impact (e.g., "Your $100 gift becomes $200 today").

Logging the Matching Gift

To include the matched funds in your reported total:

1. Go to Donations in the CRM for the campaign.
2. Use Log Offline Donation to record the matching pledge from your lead donor.
3. This ensures your reports and visible campaign total accurately reflect total funds raised including the match.

Tips for Maximizing Matching Impact

• Announce the match before the campaign launches via email to build anticipation.
• Combine matching with a Bonus Round — a timed finale where all gifts are matched creates urgency.
• Use the Email Manager to trigger an automated "Match is Live" email when the matching window opens.
